The best Star Wars Zero Company build is a plan for an Operator's job, not a universal damage ranking copied between missions. Map shape, objectives, injuries, available companions, difficulty, and the version of the game all change what a squad needs. Start with a role, choose talents and a Specialization that reinforce it, then give the rest of the squad a way to protect, set up, or finish that plan.

Start with four jobs

A dependable first squad usually covers four functions: create Advantage or target setup, apply reliable damage, provide recovery or flexible support, and hold objective pressure. One Operator can cover more than one job, but four damage-only or four support-only builds often fail when the mission asks for movement, survivability, or a precise finish.

This is why this hub does not present a single permanent tier list. The Best Squad guide turns those jobs into a practical deployment checklist. The Classes guide explains the standard and locked paths, and the Weapons guide keeps weapon choices tied to AP, sightlines, and role instead of an unverified stat table.

First version-checked builds

  • Trick build: a Soldier-first frontline plan with Heavy as a durable secondary direction.
  • Tel-Rea Vokoss build: Padawan and Wayseeker priorities for Force control, positioning, and team follow-up.

Both pages identify where their recommendations are editorial, and both were reviewed after Patch 1.1. EA's patch corrects several interactions relevant to builds, including Secondary Specialization Cross Training and Tel-Rea Force behavior. It does not announce that every old build is obsolete.

How to test a build without wasting a campaign

Change one important variable at a time: a Specialization, a talent, a weapon role, or a squad partner. Take the revised plan into a repeatable mission objective and record what it changed: access to a target, AP efficiency, injury risk, or the ability to finish an enemy. A single high-damage turn is less useful than a plan the squad can repeat safely.

When a recommendation depends on a specific interaction, check its current behavior in the Armory, talent UI, Operation requirement, or mission. This is especially important after a patch. See Patch 1.1 for the current review boundary.

Sources and scope

Operator identities and base systems are supported by EA's Operators hub and gameplay material. The initial Trick and Tel-Rea directions also cite the Epic Games Store operator-build guide, which is editorial guidance rather than an EA balance declaration. Last reviewed September 12, 2026.
