Best Trick Build in Star Wars Zero Company

Build Trick as a durable Soldier/Heavy frontline Operator in Star Wars Zero Company, with Rocket Strike setup, safe pressure, and Patch 1.1 checks.

Trick's strongest starting identity is a frontline Soldier who converts safe setup into area pressure. His unique For My Brothers talent can self-revive once per mission on the following turn after being downed, with an upgrade that prevents the first resulting Injury. That safety net makes him more forgiving than many early Operators; it does not make every exposed position safe.

Use Soldier as Trick's primary direction when the mission needs reliable direct pressure and a response to clustered enemies. Rocket Strike gives him an early area-of-effect option, so the best turn is often prepared by allies who remove cover, group targets, or leave an exit route rather than by sending Trick forward alone.

The Epic Games Store's editorial build guide recommends Heavy as a second Specialization direction for a Soldier Trick, emphasizing the health and defense needed to remain in short-range danger. That recommendation fits a role plan: Soldier creates pressure; Heavy helps Trick absorb the response while holding an objective or protecting a more fragile ally. It is not a claim that Heavy is required in every map.

Build priorities

  1. Define the job before spending Focus. Choose Trick when the squad needs area pressure, an objective holder, or a dependable early front line.
  2. Create the angle first. Let Scouts, Scoundrels, knockback, or an ally's positioning make clustered targets and safe sightlines before Rocket Strike or a committed attack.
  3. Take durability for a real threat. Heavy value rises when Trick must remain exposed to contest an objective; if he can stay in cover and the squad lacks a finisher, another role may solve more.
  4. Keep a recovery plan. Self-revive happens once per mission. Preserve cover, an assist partner, and a route to Medbay recovery after the deployment.

Squad partners

Pair Trick with an Operator who creates Advantage or sets targets up, one who can capitalize on weakened enemies, and a support option that prevents an Injury from becoming a campaign problem. Hawks as Scout can improve setup; a Scoundrel can make coordinated attacks more reliable; a Medic or flexible support role helps if the mission expects sustained pressure. Pick the partner for the objective rather than repeating the same roster on every map.

Weapons and Patch 1.1

Trick's weapon choice should leave him able to affect the next relevant target after movement and abilities take their AP. Use the current Weapons guide and Shot Breakdown rather than importing pre-patch damage examples. Patch 1.1 changes several weapon interactions and corrects Secondary Specialization behavior, so recheck any build that depends on a particular Cross Training passive or affected weapon calculation.

What this guide does not claim

This is a role-based starting build, not a universal maximum-damage ranking. Map geometry, difficulty, injuries, available talents, and later Operators can make a different secondary direction stronger. Refund points and test one change at a time rather than treating a recommended tree as a permanent commitment.
